Rokua
Quiet dusk and pure snow, bright flashing waters and fine sand –Rokua Geoparks four seasons presents Finnish nature at its best. The landscape varies from the high dunes to deep crest pits “suppa”, extensive swamps to rocky beaches and from stunning sand beaches to winding paths in the middle of the forest.
Rokua Geopark is located in Muhos, Utajärvi and Vaala municipalities in Northern Ostrobothnia and Kainuu region provinces. Oulu and Kajaani can be reached in less than an hour. Rokua Geopark is ideal for busy weekend visitors and for those who don´t want to isolate themselves middle of trackless wilderness.
You can walk, cycle, ski, paddle and ride a snowmobile within Rokua Geopark’s well marked routes.
Rokua Booking centre has a various selection of cottages, hotel rooms and holiday apartments. Most of the holiday apartments are located in hilly suppa- and dune landscapes in the heart of Rokua Geopark.

Rokua UNESCO Global Geopark tells a birth story about Rokua, lake Oulujärvi and Oulu river valley, heritage of the ice age. Ice Age story combines melting ice and the retreating to the seafront next human history.
Geopark provides an excellent opportunity to explore the unique nature, genuine products, experiences and stories. It contributes to sustainable development, tourism, and science education.
Soil Types, plants, animals and culture spring from the history of the area –particular those geological events that have shaped the course of time, the country significantly.
